New Year ~ New You

There’s just something about a new year’s resolution isn’t there? Nothing feels quite like getting caught up in the collective energy with hundreds of other people, taking hold and embracing something new, or looking at ways to better improve our lives.

This leads me to thinking about not only a new year resolution but a new decade resolution—which for me, is sustainability.  For me, living sustainably started out with taking baby steps.  Even though they were initially small, those steps have gone on to play a personal, as well as community, and even global purpose in my life.

But too often we catch ourselves disconnected from those bigger purposes. We feel too small, too insignificant, and the problem seems so big and out of reach.  So how can we make a real difference when we feel less than capable? Well first, it’s imperative to recognize we really can become the person who creates real change in the world. We need to focus our attention and energy on the bigger picture. That way we can better define the brush with which we paint our role.

Going back to those baby steps, simply ask yourself what you want to do this year as you consider what you’re ready to create.  Might I suggest you join me in living more sustainably?  More and more you hear this topic brought up in conversations or read about it online or other media.  If that’s your resolution, you are in the right place.

Living more sustainably does come with a few adjustments, which again brings us back to those baby steps. Taking small, but consistent measures toward greener living is not only the right thing to do for the environment, it’s just the right thing to do period.  And the best part? You don’t have to go it alone. At Food Loops we’ve made it our mission to guide folks in the process, answering any questions you may have—no matter how big or how small.  We are excited about what we do, and we’ll meet you where you are to help you achieve your goals.

Whether you’re a business owner who needs help selecting the right mix of compostable products to replace your stock of styrofoam cups and plates; or information re: our waste hauling services to fit your particular operation; or you’re on the staff of a national corporation looking to reduce your office footprint; or a residential consumer who’s simply looking to plan a zero-waste family reunion, wedding, class project, or any other event—we’re here to help.

So if you’ve had that nagging feeling you want to make some changes to live more sustainably—or have already moved past your other resolutions—we invite you to take those baby steps in this new year and join us as we paint a better, brighter picture for future generations to come.
